Who could I write to concerning Gay Adoption rights? I am writing a persuasive argumentative paper pro Gay Adoption rights. I have to write a genre transition essay, so a pamphlet or something, I want to write a letter to someone concerning homosexuals being able to adopt, and why they should and such. Who would I write to that it would effect? |
I would write to any political figures in your state- but make sure you research their beliefs on the subject so you know your audience.
Here are some essays that might help you get your point across:

What are your views on gay adoption, marriage, and rights? I am doing a project for school for gay adoption. I am for gay adoption and I myself am bisexual so I would like to see both sides of the argument so I can create a good point. The project is a speech for English. Please and thank you for helping me!!! :} |
adoption:

Think of all of the guyren in the world with no homes. There are orphans in 3rd world countries with no shelter, food, or other resources. Wouldn't they be better off with gay parents than with no parents?
Gay parents are likely to be more empathetic and understanding of their guyren's problems.
Straight parents can raise gay guys, so gay parents can raise straight guys. there is no genetic or influenced 'gay gene.'
CON a.k.a. IDIOCY
Guyren need male and female influences (just reinforcing the stereotype that males have one role and females have another role in society)
Religion. End of story.
(I, personally, and 14 and gay. my sister and brother are straight, and we were raised under the exact same circumstances. My parents are straight, and I just happened to end up gay. disproves genetic/nurture theories.)
marriage:
in Massachusetts, before there was gay marriage, a lot of conservatives were fighting it, thinking that it would 'ruin the sanctity of marriage.' Once it was made legal, nobody complained for one reason and one reason only: it didn't change anyone's life for the worse.
rights:
this is the easiest one to answer. It is the only one that I can't think of ANY opposing arguments to. We hurt nobody. What we do in our bedrooms, and who we love concerns nobody but ourselves. Saying no to gay rights is just abuot up to par with not letting blacks and women vote. |
I need a website for debates on gay adoption. I need both sides of the story pleez? Im writing a speech for gay adoption rights but i need 2 no y ppl r against it. |
There are numerous multi-topic pro/con sites, but I've only found one that covers the same-sex adoption issue in-depth, the International Debate Education Association (IDEA):
www.idebate.org/debatabase/topic_…
See the useful links below the arguments. There's also a list of books on the subject. Your local librarian can assist you in tracking those down.
Also, see if your library subscribes to an articles database called "Opposing Viewpoints" If so, I expect it will have numerous pro/con articles. If not, your librarian can probably suggest other article databases you can use to find useful arguments on both sides. You'll almost certainly be able to use those from home with your library card number.
I know you're asking just for websites, but also see if your library has either of these books:
"Current Controversies: Issues in Adoption"
www.worldcat.org/title/issues-in-…
"Adoption: Opposing Viewpoints"
www.worldcat.org/title/adoption-o…
(The links from WorldCat.org will show you which libraries near you own the books)
Hope this is helpful!

Should the Catholics get their opt-out from gay adoption rights in Britain? The government are pushing through a bill to give everyone the same adoption rights regardless of sexuality. The Roman Catholic Church asked them to allow an opt-out on the grounds of religious faith. Tony Blair he say no. Who's right? |
| Gays have been able to adopt in the UK for years. |
Gay Adoption? I support gay rights and gay marriage. I am, however, conflicted over gay adoption. This isn't because I don't think a gay couple can raise a guy, it's because I worry about how that guy will be treated by others - we are all too well-aware of how cruel people can be and how vulnerable guyren are.
Any thoughts on this?
(And, for the haters and jokers, please keep a lid on it, k?) |
Well, I do not think that there is a way to end cruelty without facing it head-on. If we just ignore it, that's the only way it truly is condoned by society. We need to look people in the eye, say "I'm gay, and I'm a parent", without fear of the consequences or retribution.
As for the vulnerablity of guyren - I think they're stronger than you know. Every guy has gone through torment and ridicule; some grow from it, some don't. It's not a matter of society, it's a matter of the guy, and (gasp) his or her parents. See where I'm going with this? |
What are some groups that are FOR gay adoption and AGAINST gay adoption? That could be considered 'interest groups'?
This is for a government project. I think I have some but I want to make sure.
sidenote: I am all for gay adoption and gay rights. I just need both sides to the situation for this project.
I don't know if this is the place where it should go, so I am sorry if it's not.
Thank you! |

Should a gay have adoption rights? would that affect their guy's sexual orientation? |
Yes, they should, as long as they are loving parents who deserve the right. It would not affect a guy's sexual orientation, that is about the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. I grew up around all straight couples and parents. Yet I'm still gay, aren't I?
So why would a guy I raised with my wife be gay? |
Gay Rights: Marriage + Guy Adoption?? Is this fair? Basically guyren can't choose who adopts them and if they don't want to be adopted. I know that there are homosexual people out there.. but everyone should accept each other's opinions. I'm going to say my opinion and I don't expect nasty comments... This is a very good topic to discuss. OK... I'm very very very OK with gays/lesbians/bisexual people. I am a girl and I'm straight and have a boyfriend and I have 2 female friends that are lesbians and they act completely normal and I respect them and they respect me. I respect gays but these gay rights are putting me off.
First of all God created us as woman and man... and marriage is for woman and man. Gays might say but "hey if we love each other why can't we marry really?!" Well... if gay marriage is possible.. God didn't want that... Consequently, this results into having no guyren in society. Thus, resulting in guy adoption.... Now guy adoption to gay couples is horrific. What if the guy doesn't want to grow with homosexual people? Guyren need a MOTHER and a FATHER not FATHER-FATHER or MOTHER-MOTHER! This is not right! Guyren will grow up as homosexuals! And love between a female and male will be less! Reproduction will decrease. What do you think about this? Gays are being selfish... first they wanted marriage and now guy adoption.... we will be having more gay people than straight! Poor guyren.... they don't know who their mother is and they will have two fathers instead... that hurts. Even though gays would treat the guys as much as a heterosexual couple but it is not right... Guyren will grow up with the mentality of same sex couples... really what is the world coming to.. nowadays? People, what do you think about this? Do you agree? I think guyren have rights as well and should be considered as well... guyren want a mother and a father loving each other....not same sex couples without knowing their father or mother....This is unfair for guyren.. What do you think people? Express your opinions... but properly .. Thanks :) |
Just going to stop you right there.. the guy does have a say if they want to be adopted by certain people or not..
This obviously depends on how old the guy is though |
Why is gay adoption just for Gay Rights? Like you just want gay rights when you should know by now a stable family and stable environment for a guy to live in is with a male and female/single parent. |
| I am Brazilian and here in Brazil it is common gays adopt guyren, and up to now I didn't know about any case in that the adoption has been unhappy. Unlike couples that has natural guyren and they live a hell. The best family is that gives emotional balance the guy, independent is had a couple of parents, or two fathers or two mothers. |
